Introduction to RealLight MCO Series Tunable-Energy Free-Space Output Microchip Lasers
The RealSubns® tunable-energy sub-nanosecond free-space output microchip laser of RealLight MCO series is primarily optimized for Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). It is also widely applied in scientific research and industrial fields including laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, semiconductor inspection, laser marking, laser remote sensing and LiDAR, serving as a compact and high-precision pulsed laser source.
Integrated with an electronic energy control module, optical trigger output module and laser drive circuit, the laser features a compact footprint of 82×102.8×240 mm. Adopting free-space beam output, its full-angle divergence is controlled within 2 mrad for excellent beam directivity. Designed for plug-and-play use, it is equipped with dedicated upper computer software to facilitate parameter commissioning and operation management. The fully sealed structure ensures high reliability for long-term stable operation. Its operating temperature ranges from 15℃ to 35℃, and the storage temperature ranges from 0℃ to 60℃, well suited for conventional laboratory and industrial environments. Powered by 24 V DC, the system has an average power consumption below 15 W and a peak power consumption lower than 30 W with outstanding energy efficiency. Fitted with an RS232 control interface and a SMB TTL (0~5 V) modulation input interface, it can be seamlessly connected to various precision analytical instruments and automatic systems.
In terms of optical performance, the laser is available in four mainstream wavelengths: 1064 nm, 532 nm, 355 nm and 266 nm, catering to the excitation requirements of diverse mass spectrometry analyses. It achieves a pulse width of no more than 1 ns and optical trigger jitter below 100 ps, delivering exceptional timing accuracy. The repetition rate is continuously adjustable from 1 Hz to 200 Hz, and stable operation at 16~200 Hz is supported in both continuous and burst modes. The laser energy can be adjusted in real time via the upper computer with a tuning step accuracy of 1%. The maximum output energy varies by wavelength, reaching up to 60 μJ at 1064 nm. With an 8-hour RMS energy stability better than 3%, the laser outputs standard TEM00 mode beams with a polarization ratio of no less than 100:1. Its superior beam quality and stable output guarantee accurate and repeatable test results for MALDI-TOF MS, making it an ideal light source for such mass spectrometry instruments.
