Introduction to RealLight MCO Series Fiber-Coupled Tunable Energy Microchip Lasers
The RealSubns® MCO series sub-nanosecond fiber-coupled tunable-energy microchip laser is developed by RealLight. It is specially optimized for laser mass spectrometry, particularly for Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). It also applies to laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, semiconductor inspection, laser marking and other scientific research and industrial scenarios, serving as a highly integrated and flexible pulsed laser source.
This laser integrates an electronic energy control module, optical trigger output module and laser drive circuit. With a compact dimension of 82×79×250 mm, it adopts standard 200 μm / 0.22 NA fiber coupling and features plug-and-play operation. Dedicated upper computer software is supplied for easy commissioning and operation. Built with a fully sealed structure, the laser delivers excellent stability. Its operating temperature ranges from 15 ℃ to 35 ℃, and the storage temperature is from -10 ℃ to 60 ℃, making it adaptable to various laboratory and industrial environments. It uses 24 V DC power input, and the standard supporting adapter is compatible with 90~260 V AC. The average system power consumption is below 15 W and the peak power consumption is less than 30 W. Equipped with RS232 control interface and SMB-type TTL modulation interface, it can be seamlessly connected to all kinds of precision equipment systems.
In terms of optical performance, the laser is available in multiple wavelengths including 1064 nm, 532 nm, 355 nm and 266 nm to fully meet the excitation requirements of different laser mass spectrometry systems. It features a pulse width of less than 1 ns and optical trigger jitter below 100 ps, achieving ultra-high timing accuracy. The repetition rate can be continuously adjusted from 1 Hz to 200 Hz, and it operates stably at 16~200 Hz in both continuous and burst modes. The laser energy can be adjusted in real time via the upper computer with a tuning step accuracy of 1%. The maximum fiber-coupled output energy varies by wavelength, up to 50 μJ. It maintains an 8-hour RMS energy stability better than 3% and a polarization ratio of no less than 100:1. The stable and reliable laser output ensures accurate and repeatable test results, making it an ideal supporting light source for MALDI-TOF MS instruments.

RealLight’s MCO series sub-nanosecond fiber pigtailed microchip laser is composed of integrated electronic control module for energy adjustment, photodetector module and laser drive board, with a 200um 0.22NA fiber. This super compact laser is plug and play, making it an ideal source for a variety of applications.
